Franchon Crews-Dezurn: record, next fight and profile →
NEW YORK – Franchon Crews-Dezurn has grown all too accustomed to the game letting her down. The upcoming showdown with fellow unified super middleweight titlist Elin Cederros has been more than a year in the making for Baltimore’s Crews-Dezurn, who has learned to accept what fate had in store.
Elin Cederroos is honored to contribute to a history-making show at the sport’s most iconic venue. The unbeaten WBA/IBF super middleweight champion will become the first Swedish boxer to defend a title at Madison Square Garden when she steps into the ring this Saturday (DAZN, 7:30 p.m. ET). She will also have the chance to become women’s boxing’s first-ever undisputed super middleweight champion as she faces unified WBC/WBO titlist Franchon Crews-Dezurn (7-1, 2KOs; 1NC).

By Thomas Gerbasi - Call me crazy, but I just can’t see someone with the first name Franchon working a 9 to 5 somewhere. With a name like that, you’ve got to be destined for something special. Madison Square Garden will now play host to at least two undisputed championship fights on April 30. The oft-postponed WBC/WBA/IBF/WBO super middleweight title fight between Franchon Crews-Dezurn and Elin Cederroos now has a home, as the bout has been added to an increasingly potent April 30 DAZN show at MSG in New York City.
Franchon Crews-Dezurn and Elin Cederroos have signed promotional deals with Eddie Hearn and Matchroom, and the Super Middleweight rulers will meet for the undisputed title in the spring.
Franchon Crews-Dezurn was prepared to make the most of an undesirable situation. Somehow, that situation has become even worse. Days after Crews-Dezurn received short notice confirmation of her undisputed super middleweight championship clash with Sweden’s Elin Cederroos, both boxers were informed that the fight is once again delayed. The two were due to meet in the chief support of the September 14 TrillerVerz card from Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Hollywood, Florida. However, Cederroos is unable to make the trip due to unforeseen visa issues according to representatives from Golden Boy Promotions, Crews-Dezurn’s promoter.
Danielito Zorrilla and Pablo Cesar Cano are on the move though with their rescheduled fight still intact. The junior welterweight crossroads bout is officially set to take place September 14 at Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Hollywood, Florida, Promociones Miguel Cotto—Zorrilla’s co-promoter—informed BoxingScene.com. The bout will headline the next edition of TrillerVerz, accompanied by another repurposed fight as WBC/WBO super middleweight titlist Crews-Dezurn (7-1, 2KOs) faces WBA/IBF titlist Elin Cederroos (8-0, 4KOs) for the division’s undisputed championship.
