Why didn't Mayweather fight Martinez for his 160 belt?

Any reason why Mayweather didn't fight Martinez when Martinez had the 160 belt? I think Mayweather would've been able to beat him and he could've added another belt/weight class to his resume, but he didn't, how come? Anyone else think he would've won like I do?

160 is to big, Floyd is not a full blown WW like Spence Brook Horn etc, even Leonard was a lot bigger than Floyd.

Floyd has frail hands his power was devastating as a LW good as a JWW respectable as a WW, would be non existent at MW, that in itself is a very big handicap to overcome against elite MWs.

It takes nothing away from FM the fighter, a true great in every sense, his style of boxing, his body frame and his power will all fade away as the weight goes up, there comes a point where its a bridge too far.

He didn't want to make people think he was better than he was. Didn't want to prove doubters wrong.
Didn't mind people thinking he was cautious. And that's ok, it's his life and health in line.
He did what he wanted to do in career. Nothing more, nothing less.

He wasn't big enough for 154 never mind 160. There is a limit.

As late as 2011 Martinez was trying to get either Floyd or Pac at 154. They were not having any.

Come to think of it I’m starting to wonder why he didn’t fight Tyson Fury after he beat Klitschko. Anyone know why not?

Could’ve fought Anthony Joshua and Deontay Wilder as well.

there was no expectation of that, but in retrospect, he would have most likely won and put a huge stamp on his legacy. cotto was also never really a mw, but he stepped up and took the risk. now he has lineal mw champion on his cv.
