With a lot of heavyweights on display last night it seems a good time for an updated top 10 list.
1. Tyson Fury (Lineal King) Since performing brilliantly and outboxing monster puncher Deontay Wilder to a much disputed 12 round draw, Tyson Fury has picked up three very notable wins.
First he scored a very impressive 2nd round KO, over fringe world level contender and 24-0 Tom Schwarz, before conquering 6 ft 6 southpaw and 20-0 Otto Wallin to a thoroughly comprehensive points win, despite fighting 9/10 rounds with an horrendous cut.
Following this Tyson Fury moved over to wrestling for one fight. He faced the 6 f 8 Braun Strowman. Fury showed that anyone doubting his power had no clue as the what he was packing, with a one-punch KO victory.
2. Deontay Wilder - The hardest puncher in history. Since his disputed draw with the Gypsy King, Wilder has knocked out Breazeale, very impressively in the first round, and came from 6-0/5-1 behind against the slick Cuban Southpaw Luis Ortiz to score another memorable knockout.
Wilder often only gets credited for having amazing power, but he has other great attributes that are overlooked. Is he blessed with great boxing ability? No. But he has good judgement of distance, has very good speed and athleticism, an underrated defence, a good chin and also responds well when he is buzzed.
On top of that, he has an unorthodox style that you can't really prepare/train for, there's nobody else like him.
3. Daniel Dubois - This might seem like a controversial choice, having him so high, but this kid is special. He has amazing power, speed and volume, and as far as I can tell, he can take a shot. I really think he would wipe Joshua out. So with that being my view if they fought, despite that Joshua has a much better resume, I place Dubois higher.
4. Oleksandr Usyk - The best cruiserweight since Holyfield. A very skilled boxer who has the great ability to improve and go through the gears mid fight, Such as against Briedis and against Bellew. He has to prove himself at HW, but I'm going to give him the benefit of the doubt.
5. Luis Ortiz - Again he was superb in defeat against Wilder, and I'd love to see him in other big fights, maybe against Hunter, Povetkin, Miller or Ruiz JR.
6. Andy Ruiz - People will think how is he above AJ? And I understand that, but let's face facts, they are 1-1, it's not 2-0 AJ. Ruiz's win was far more convincing, scoring 4 knockdowns to 1, and winning almost every round is more convincing than losing 117-111/116-112 with no knockdowns either way.
Anthony Joshua did perform like a male Katie Taylor, he really did get on his bike well, whilst landing a few tippy-tappy punches and the odd bomb. Rumours have it that Andy has had a lot on his plate lately, so maybe boxing wasn't at the forefront of his mind. He'll be back.
7. Anthony Joshua - Reclaimed his three titles with a points win over the former WBA, WBO, and IBF world champion/current hot dog eating world champion Andy Ruiz. Stiff tests await for the big man.
8. Dillian Whyte - He wasn't massively impressive against the slow and plodding Wach, but that was to be expected, he wasn't near optimum condition and had only just received the news that fortunately his B-Sample was lost in the post. In all fairness he deserves a shot at a world title soon.
9. Dereck Chisora - War just keeps getting better and better, and is looking ferocious in his older years, dare I say it, like a mixture of Frazier and Mike Tyson. Robbed against Helenius and Dillian Whyte (1), he has still picked up wins over the likes of Szpilka and Takam, as well as having faced and done well against the best of the best
10. Jarrell Miller - I rate Miller highly and gave him a good chance against Joshua. Hopefully we will see him back in the ring soon.
Just outside the top 10.
