  • Does Rocky Marciano's 50th victory, KO of Muhammad Ali, make him the GOAT?

We all know that no fighter has ever come close to matching Marciano's record of 49-0 in the only division that records count and in the era of all time greats like Joe Louis. However, in 1969 an old, retired Rocky Marciano donned a wig and stepped in with Muhammad Ali for an exhibition bout which by today's standards would be a professional fight since there was no headgear. In the match, Marciano lands a signature left hook and KO's Ali. The fight could not be sanctioned because Ali had been stripped of his Boxing license for dodging the draft and refusing to fight for his country.

In today's Boxing game, money talks and they will allow fights to be licensed matching World Champions with opponents who have never even competed in an amateur Boxing match, and still count towards their official record.

Marciano while completely inactive, old and out of shape KO'd an undefeated Heavyweight, largely considered the Greatest of All Time, while he was the lineal and undefeated Heavyweight World Champion and this is supposed to not count to his record? It's time to recognize the truth.

Rocky Marciano. 50-0. Greatest of All Time.

You must be joking. Nobody would seriously call that a fight. A fight is when both fighters do their very best to win. The Rocky vs Ali fight was completely stagged and the boxers did as the director told them to do.

Are you serious? The ali vs Marciano was phony simulated fight. Ali was in his prime Marciano was an old man wearing a wig. There are many fighters that could've broke Marcianos record like Chavez but they wanted to keep fighting keep making money. Marciano has the most padded record in history every big name on it was way past his prime the rest had losing records. he retired before facing undefeated and young Sonny Liston and Floyd Patterson. The greatest ?He is not a top 10 heavyweight

Even if there was a shred of truth to that, which is a reach, does it matter if the person directing the outcome is labeled a "Director" or a "Promoter" or a "Casino Mogul" or and "Investor" or an "Al Haymon" or anything else?

Back in Rocky and Muhammad's day it certainly doesn't count. But by todays standards, this would have done 5 million PPV and there would have been a WBC belt on the line. I dare you to deny that.

youd rightfully think only a close relative of rockys would accept that dated, cheaply made, simulation ''fight'' is a basis for anything significant

Bottom line is simple. Rocky is 50-0 by today's standards, and KO'd the very best that 2 generations had to offer.
