    Comments Thread For: Wilder Will Not Be Rushed To Klitschko, Says Finkel

    WBC heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder (33-0, 32KOs) is still very much a work in progress, says his co-manager Shelly Finkel. After last Saturday's world title win over Bermane Stiverne, the hype began growing for a fight between Wilder and WBO/WBA/IBO/IBF champion Wladimir Klitschko.

    Finkel, who manages Wilder with Al Haymon and Jay Deas, also works closely with Klitschko.

    Pure BS. Once you have the title you must fight the best, the grooming/developing days are officially over.

          Weird seeing Finkel guiding Wilder after all these years. I agree with him, Wilder needs work. Feed him Tarver & Cunningham this year and step up with some tougher fights after that.

            Wlad is booked for April and has locked down an arena in Germany for an October fight vs. Briggs, so his dance card is full for 2015 anyway.

            A unification not taking place immediately after someone wins a belt isn't ducking. In fact, very few unifications take place right away.

            And seeing how K2 hasn't made an offer to fight Wilder, it's hard to say he's ducking anything. He can't turn down what hasn't been offered.

              WBC = Western HW title..

              Others = Eastern HW title.

              The yanks will defend it locally now and hand it back and forth between each other and unification days are over!

              I don't understand! Arreola should never have been allowed to fight Stiverne for that title in the first place!

              Wladimir Klitschko is the obvious champion and Stiverne was next in line to fight Vitali.

              When VK retired, that title should have been fought out by Wlad and Stiverne.

              Wlad would have punched his head in and immediately unified all belts and this would never have happened.

              Now we have a paper champion holding the belt hostage who has no right to even be there!

                  Just like the old days, calling it a world title but really just an American one.

                  Pathetic!

                    By what means? Ripping off the real champ to share around the trinkets just so other guys can have a turn?

                    This isn't sharing candy at a bloody school yard that the biggest kid has been hogging all to himself for too long- This is the HW title!

                    Your supposed to EARN the damn belts! Otherwise what is the point!
