Kevin Mitchell in the Guardian (UK) made a really good point today. He said Byrd's scorecard was a 'cry for help'. Interesting point- why wouldn't she just score it 115-113 to Canelo? It would amount to the same thing and no-one would be screaming corruption, robbery, etc.

If she'd had unwanted pressure put on her to give Canelo the W whatever happened, a good way to expose that would be to turn in a ridiculous card. Which she did.

But Mexican fans know their boxing and have no patience for artsy fartsy ballerinas.
The thing is Mexican fans are some of the stupidest fans and don't comprehend boxing. And I'm Mexican 100%!
They want to see every fighter just stand in the middle and go toe to toe all night. They have no appreciation for the art of boxing. They think that when a fighter like Mayweather, Thurman, Jacobs, even Canelo in this fight uses footwork and lateral movements then their running. Their not! The name of the game is Boxing, not brawling.
I can appreciate boxing so I can appreciate Fighters like Mayweather, Jacobs, and Thurman. Most Mexican fans, especially the ones born in Mexico wanna see a brawl and have no patience or appreciation for a fighter who boxes instead of brawling. That's why they love Chavez SR cause his style was similar to triple g's .
But this is Boxing, hit and not get hit. If that means using the ring to your advantage, if that means using lateral movements and having great footwork then more power to them. Not every fighter is a brawler like Triple g. And that's what Mexican fans dont understand or appreciate.

That's ridiculous, how is that any better than her coming out to the media or reporting to the boxing commission that she was being pressured? Instead she chose to sabotage her career and become one of the most hated people on Earth to cryptically send a distress signal?

With that said, it does strike me as odd that somebody corrupt would turn in a lopsided scorecard and stick out like a sore thumb rather than quietly get the job done.

I never said Canelo won. I stated GGG didn't dominate and CLEARLY won the fight as a lot of people are saying. I have no issue with 115-113 either way, or a draw. I think most true, unbiased boxing fan will tell you the same. I think the outrage that's pouring out towards Canelo is because of the 118-110 card which is ridiculous. But that aside, the other 2 cards I had no issues with.

I kept telling myself during the fight that GGG has to be on something to take punishment and continue to come forward like he wasn't hit but a very powerful punch. Even going back to the Stevens fight, He'd get caught with very good shots, he'd just walk it off like nothing.

I myself sitting in a room full of mexicans with volume off scored it clearly for ggg. Rd 1, 4,5,6,7,8,9,11. It was pretty clear imo. And ive actually went through judging training so im,not some fanboy or nothing like that. I dig both fighters and neither are my faves. But both good. Ggg just better than canelo. Every fighter has that guy that they cant seem to get past. If they fought 10 times GGG wins all ten imo. Not being a smart azz or nothing. Just friendly opinion

Thay one uppercut he got clocked with and didn't even see coming would of KO's 99% of the other MW's...They both landed some helacous shots to the head.

This fight has exposed so many things...lets go over it shall we!

                  1. GGG was overhyped(for ex. Was supposed to be the best at cutting the ring off but couldn't against a cement feet fighter in Canelo)

(His power did not affect a 160 debut Canelo like the majority predicted)

                  2. Most people do not know how to score a boxing match correctly! No matter what! There are 4 scoring criteria's and you must question who did more of what they wanted in the ring!

Did Canelo choose to do what he wanted? Or did GGG force Canelo to fight him toe to toe which is his biggest strength? You decide got damn it!

                  3. Canelo exceeded expectations!
(Who'd knew coming his biggest strength in the fight was his footwork and he showed immaculate footwork)

(He set traps using his feet by distance control of where he wanted to go and leads GGG to and then countered intelligently using the positon he set himself into)

(Also he had more than enough power to keep GGG honest more than a dozen times in the fight. There was a round where he caught Golovkin with a shot to the body and Golovkin immediately clinched)!

(His chin was superb as he took a couple flush shots and didn't wobble or was even close to getting dropped)

(Did what most thought was gonna get him KO'd and stayed on the ropes numerous times in the fight to either use it as leverage to counter effectively, help with defensive maneuvering or just to take a breather)

                  4. GGG has an iron cast chin!! His durability is amazing he took some punishment in that ring and no one's talking about it because he never buckled! He's an incredibly tough fighter and ate some hard counters he didn't see coming and never went down!

                  5. GGG fights the same in almost every fight except the Brook and Lemule fight and somewhat Jacobs!

I say he has 2 levels to his game so I disagree that he's one dimensional!

                  6. Canelo's defense was great, he made a guy with insane stamina miss majority of his punches who likely threw about 650(don't trust compubox like some of you idiots)!

                  7. Canelo can't win with the fans unless he knocks out GGG and GGG can't outbox Canelo!

Just read they refunded straight bets. Damn!! I still have my ticket with my $500 bet on Canelo! Wonder if i can get it back!

Everyone knew they had just seen a close fight so when the 118-110 card was read out first, it insulted everyone there.

But for sure, a primarily Mexican crowd cheering Golovkin and booing Canelo at the end - that was shocking. Not sure I've seen that before, and pretty sure Canelo hasn't. Of all things in the fight, that would have hurt him more than anything Golovkin landed.

Can never figure out why boxers never do the smart thing and say something like 'I gave it everything I had tonight and it wasn't enough, I just want to apologise to my fans for not bringing the belts home to Mexico'. He could have also just said 'I also want to apologise for that scorecard, it insults everyone here, Gennady, my team, and also me'.

If he had done that the crowd would have cheered him. Easy.

Instead, the crowd got insulted, and he effectively endorsed the insult. Not smart.
HUMBLE boxers would still say something along those lines....humility waved bye bye to Canelo some time back after the Kirkland fight, maybe a little before....
