Wouldn't it be healthier to pass on a rekindled interest in actual historical black civilizations such as the Ashanti Empire rather than desperately searching for evidence of black vikings, black samurai, black legionnaires?
I'm thinking mostly about young people and how drawing inspiration from their ancestry can affect their self-esteem. If I taught my own son about "Secret Middle Eastern Vikings" I feel like I would be setting him up for identity/self-esteem issues when he realized it was all nonsense I told him out of political spite.
