How about Jerry Quarry? He lost more than Vitaly and wasn't as dominant, but he fought in a much tougher era and has wins over better fighters. We could throw Eddie Machen in there too. Thing is, and Im not saying this about you, it takes more than boxrec to know about fighters you haven't regularly watched or read about. Most Klit fans on this site have only been watching boxing a short time.

I wonder who is to blame for the fact that Vitali has such a poor resume and wasn't fighting good opposition back then when he could have. His promoters or himself ? Or both perhaps?

At least Wlad has been seeking the best opponents for many years now and has cleansed the division regardless of how poor it actually is.

Wlad is in. He's first ballot and inside the top 17 all time greats with time to move up.

          4. Shamelessly ducked a rematch with Chris Byrd.

          5. NEVER beat the top guy in his division.
          You are correct.

            The one reason he should:

            1. He made Lennox Lewis retire.

Made Lennox Lewis retire on top with a win over the top contender in the division. And now Vitaly wants Charr or some other schlep to go out on!

Vitaly was never lineal champion despite being ring champion.

I feel sorry for Vitali, the only chance to prove his worth against a Heavyweight Great Lennox Lewis and he loses by technical knockout. Unless he fights his brother.

Are we seriously trying to deny the boxer with the best statistics of alltime his rightful place Atop the HOF rankings? Let me put it to you this way... even if Vitali amassed the best numbers of alltime vs 46 professional scrubs while spending half his career juicing.. there'd still be a nostalgiac place in the HOF for him as boxing's alltime BER (BOXER EFFICENCY RATING) champ. The fact that he's amassed these numbers while being a three time heavyweight champion is why the HOF should be renamed HOV.
