Lots of people, Including me, Concentrate too much on power and not technique, If you revolve everything you do on power when you train, You will miss the basics being taught to you, Proper technique goes straight out the window, Your punching power WILL develop ... But thats it.
When proper technique, Speed and focus is your main priority in training, Power comes with it, Your power is also developed by the exercises you do in the gym.
Don't try to be Mike Tyson, Mike Tyson didn't try to punch like Mike Tyson, It was developed by using proper punching technique and focus!
Most important things to perfect?
Rotation and foundation, The two most important things that you NEED to win bouts, Would you build a house on a poor foundation? NO, Why? It wont be long until it falls down.
Rotation, Only once you get the hang of rotating your body into punches, Can you punch properly AT ALL, Combinations cant be thrown without good rotation of the body, Power will be none existant without good rotation of the body .. Rotating makes combinations a lot easier, It becomes a flow instead of a physical struggle!
Running and sparring obviously are a MUST too.
