    should ur hips be loose or tensed to the max?

    I like them tensed to the max, but ive heard they should be loose n relaxed, but you cant use the hips for max power unless u tense them

      I try to stay relaxed, I can throw more punches if my hips are relaxed

        I don't even know how you would keep your hips tense. Sounds like you're misunderstanding how to use them. The hips are a point of movement and, like the arms or anything else, you don't flex them until you use them. You can't move something when it's tense, it gets locked up and slow. When you thrust into a punch or hop back your thighs will flex and those muscles get working in short bursts, but you're not actively flexing or tensing anything in your hips. You wouldn't be able to move for shyt. You keep your waist limber and ready to fold, flex, whatever is called for in the moment.
