Davey Day was the Best of the Best
You missed Davey Day ( David Daitch) of Chicago was recognize as Champion by N.B.A. when Low Ambers was stripped of his tiltle, for refusing to fight the #1 ranked lightweight contender Day. The NY boxing commission broke with the N.B.A. in keeping Ambers as their Champion. The N.B.A. matched the #2. lightweight Sammy Angott to fight Day for the world lightweight championship, in Louisville. It was a set up when Charlie Jones, Angotts manager/banker hired Jack Dempsey to be the sole ref. and judge. Day was an 8/5 favorite to win. Dempsey gave the title to angott by one point. Davey would of been Champion as early as 1934 had he not been in the same stable with Barney. Davey was Barneys policemen, you had to beat davey to get a crack at Ross, nobody could do it. Mike Jacobs boss of the 20th Century Boxing Club, controlled All Championship matches in NY. He had contracts on them all. He wouldn't let Day fight any of his Champions, because he would lose a Champion. He made the Champions. Henry Armstrong was damaged goods after Davey fought him in 1939, sending Armstrong to the hospital, with gashed eye, broken right hand, cut up face and lip, and badly bruised right hand. Days managers offered Armstrong $35,000 for a re-match, he turned it down. Tony Canzoneri, Lew Jenkins, Fritzie Zivic would not fight Day. Their are several vintage pic of Davey on Ebay, seller is GOLDSTARSTAMPS. Daveys punch could paralyze you. Have a good Day.

Much has been lost, yet much has been passed on, and I still have those klitschko tapes you sent me. Kinda ol'school dated eh, but still relevant!
