Why would anyone give serious thought to some dumb shit like this?
These quandries come up now and then...You have to consider it a "teachable moment."
Bruce Lee was a teacher and an innovator. First off: Many of his students are incredible fighters. men like Dan Insanto, A lot of guys coming out of the rough and tumble world of Oakland... a real fighting town.
Lee's actual fighting ability was probably closest to a guy like Paul Vunak... These guys can fight in the ring but its not their interest and it was not Lee's interest, beyond experimenting with technique and applications. Lee also was an incredible athlete and had advantages that way. Even though he was small he trained to be explosive...Based on this ability he was able to hold his own with many "strikers.' His grappling was very rudimentary, though Gene Le Bell worked with him later on, and Gene is the man!
Lee's actual ability in a boxing ring in rudimentary. In a street fight he could take care of himself. If Mayweather and him scrapped on the street he would probably wind up nailing junior in the nuts after a feint with the lead hand... boxers just seem to fall for that one.
But if you want to get real? Groups like the Dog brothers, who train full on with sticks and other weapons in addition to unarmed, are combat proficient way beyond boxing. And these groups owe a great deal to Lee as a teacher and innovator.

He wasn't just an actor though. If you read up on Bruce Lee, he follows a proper lineage of martial artists going back hundreds of years. He's from another time. He wasn't one of those folks that went to martial art acting schools, like Jackie Chan. Bruce Lee was the real deal.
Bruce Lee was allegedly trained by Yip Man in Wing Chun. Some say that he was trained the "wrong way" deliberately when probably what happened was Yip Man was getting older and compensated for body positioning by putting toes in towards insteps.
