Defensive Wizards Who Aren't/Weren't Slick

You know whats funny is Julio Cesar Chavez Sr. had great defense and he was by no means slick. People used to talk about his iron jaw but the man wasnt walking around with his chin out or walking into punches like Brandon Rios or Margarito. Chavez used his shoulders to roll and slide punches along with great head movement on the inside.

wasn't very coordinated, even for a giant, but for some reason he was rarely, if ever hit. i think part of it came with the coolness that you'd develop knowing that your chin was made of straight up stone, and you were basically never the smaller guy in any situation.
his brother had to tie people up to feel safe. vitali just felt safe all the time. and that's taking into consideration that his brother had more athletic talent in his left hand than vitali did in his entire body.

brandon rios catches most of the shots on his gloves but to the untrained eye (casual) they will say he just comes forward and eat shots.
James toney I wouldnt necessary call slick either but had one of the best defense imo.

James Toney definitely isn't slick.
But then again, his defense is very overrated. I wouldn't call him a "defensive wizard"
