No. Hopkins wanted this fight. Pavlik took it because there was no-one else to fight, plus he'd make big money.

Anyway...

Is anyone seriously thinking that Bernard wouldn't have picked a black fighter with the same (lack of) skill set and a big name, if the opportunity presented itself?

It has nothing to do with race.

Do people really think that Hop is some racist running around trying to beat up every other race? This is stupid, Pavlik was the biggest name and biggest money fight available for him. He's been very respectful to Kelly leading up to the fight and was afterwards too.
