  • Comments Thread For: McGregor's Trainer Doesn't Rule Out Malignaggi Boxing Match

John Kavanagh, the head trainer for UFC superstar Conor McGregor, does not rule out the possibility of a boxing match with Paulie Malignaggi. The two fighters have been traded words for well over a year - taking shots at each other during interviews and on social media. Last August at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, McGregor made his professional boxing debut - and suffered a ten round TKO defeat at the hands of Floyd Mayweather Jr. - who was coming off a near two-year layoff.

Best trainer. He just saved McGregor’s career and put more money in his pocket.

He’s gonna beat Paulie and then he’s gonna get another Floyd or a Pac fight

Someone, buy that man a Royce.

Yeah they will release the entire 12 round sparring session, 36 minutes + breaks, on netflix. Right.

Anyways, his coach has also said he hasnt talked to mcgreggor in the last week since the fight, they are obviously not very close anymore.

I do think that Paulie M is a likely opponent. Mcgreggor needs a win, he is at that point in his career where his name and image are bigger than his abilities, he has no chance against khabib in a rematch, will likely lose to any top MMA fighter, but he can still outsell anyone in PPV. That will only last so long, MMA fans arent going to pay to see him lose 4 fights in a row. So he needs to be carefully matched.

Hmmm.. it definitely would be entertaining.. but I expect Paulie to kick Connors ass.. rd 10, 11, and 12.. paulie is probably already training.. lol. So he will be in top shape come fight night and will beat the brakes off of McGregor.. but it will be entertaining.. an the trash talk will be ppv alone!

The pre-fight documentary would be more interesting than the actual fight...
