  • Good Size Gloves For Training

Hey guys I'm looking to start boxing again. I fought as an amateur as a teen but stop after an injury. My younger brother will also be joining me.

What I want to know is what size gloves should I buy.

    I'm 22 and weigh about 150lbs.

My Brother is 14 and is about 125lbs.

Also should I worry about buying a mouth piece right now and should I any particular type of shoes.

    Thanks.

Depends you mean training gloves or sparring gloves?

If it's traning gloves to hit pads and the bag, anything will do i suggest 10-14 oz gloves.

For sparring everybody should wear 16 oz, 18 or 20 oz for heavyweights.

Thanks for replying. Right now I'm looking for gloves to hit on the bag and pads. I want something that would help build up my speed but won't hinder me in the process.

Should me and my brother use the same size or should I get him a pair that's a couple ounces smaller.

Right now I'm using 12, should I go up to 14.

Get 16 oz gloves even for bag.
Both of you, you can use them for sparring too. So you dont have to buy 2 pairs of gloves, later you can do that but for the beginnig getting 16 oz is better.

Also due to the heavier resistance youŽll train speed power and endurance.

For boots IŽd recommend you some Adidas Box Hog .

Later on both of you should get headgear and groin guards for sparring.

Oh and you should definitly buy an mouthpiece for sparring.
Its better to buy it directly in the beginning to get used to it.
