  • is competition headgear ok for sparring?

would it be ok to use amateur competition for sparring instead of the traditional, heavier/thicker training headgear?

    i can see some advantages:

    1. it's lighter, easier to move your head.
    2. in an actual amateur match, you would use the same headgear.

    disavantages:

    1. less padding, less protection?

anyways, i was wondering about one thing:

i know boxers usually use heavier gloves for sparring, so the gloves in the real match will feel much lighter.

does this apply to headgear too? (using the heavier training headgear when sparring, then feeling lighter when using the competition headgear during the match)

Why absorb more if you dont have to. That little extra padding means abit, so does your mind. Why take more learning...............Rockin'

the usual sparring headgear protects against cuts, broken eardrums, and broken noses, and black eyes, because if you wanna spar to get in fighting shape but if any of those injuries happen you have to cancel. If you are actually competing "**** it bring it on" cause thats when it counts.
