  • Canelo is the bigger draw, but I don't think Golovkin will risk everything he worked for in collecting those belts for a bit more money.

I used to think that Golovkin saying no cw is a negotiating tactic, but the more I think about it, the more I believe that he's serious.

He's not gonna put himself in any disadvantage until he unifies.

Nor did he have to follow a certain blueprint from a previous fight.

Whatever game plan he had mapped out in preparation for Miguel Cotto mostly worked before a loud and partisan crowd of 11,274 at the Mandalay Bay Hotel and Casino.

With the win, Alvarez wins the vacant WBC middleweight title and improves to 46-1-1, 32 KOs. Cotto drops to 40-5, 33 KOs.

The WBC title was in Cotto's hands less than a week ago before it was stripped by the governing body, reportedly due to Cotto not paying the ($300,000) sanctioning fee and step-aside money (reportedly $800,000) to Gennady Golovkin.

With Alvarez only eligible to win the title, it was pride and another significant payday Cotto was fighting for.

Much of the promotion also centered on the fight being another chapter in the long-standing rivalry between fighters between Mexico and Puerto Rico. Alvarez had the crowd support in his favor and seemed to feed off of that, from the ring walk until the final bell sounded. [Click Here To Read More]

AHAHAHAHA! Canelo goin "A-side" duck on GGG.

Nah but doe, I am a warrior I fear nobody but... but I need you drained down to 155 doe...

With his performance against an old SMALL Cotto, he KNOWS GGG would break his life in 4 rounds.

So you bet your ass that I'm going to enjoy seeing them get a taste of their own medicine now.
I'm for catch weight fights actually... I'm actually against the crybabies who complain about them... But.. I just think 155 is ridiculous... should be at least 157...

Canelo v. Tim Bradley Cinco De Mayo! I can already see it now...

          • Canelo clearly beat Cotto. But fighting G monster at 160 isn't doing what GGG wants. It's doing what's traditional in boxing. Canelo was huge. He can easily make 160 and wanting to fight G monster at 155 is evidence that he is afraid of GGG in my opinion.

            • never

their should be no catch weight when 2 peple are form the same weight class or 2 people hold titles in the same weight class weather or not you fight in and other if not give up the dam belt catch weight should only be for fighter who are not in the same weight and do not old titles in the same class

GGG vs. Crawford after that. GGG is like a PED combing playgrounds for smaller guys.

                • The same Golovkin fans that defended his 164 lb. catchweight demand vs. Ward are acting like typical stans and crying about Canelo's 155 lb. catchweight demand vs. Golovkin.

Fact: Middleweight is Golovkin's first weight class as a pro.

Fact: Golovkin refused to go up to the full limit of his second weight class and ducked Andre Ward.

Fact: Middleweight is Alvarez's fourth weight class as a pro.

Fact: Alvarez has never weighed more than 155 lbs. which is 5 lbs. less than the full limit of his fourth weight class.

Fact: Golovkin has stated on record that he would be willing to go as low as 154 lbs. for a big PPV fight. If he ducks Alvarez over weight, he will solidify his standing as the biggest coward boxing has produced in at least 20 years.

                  • I see we have another puto posing as the middleweight champion. The WBC better get their sh#t straight this time and strip him.

                    • People are missing the point...even when Pacquiao did catch weights.. even at 154..he still fought at 151...

                      155 is a disgrace...

Pacquiao fought Cotto at 145... and Margo at 151... Algieiri at 144... etc..

                      Pacquiao wasn't fighting at 148... or 141..

                      That's what Canelo is doing..he's a coward...
