  • The Rock is one massive step closer to becoming US president

His records have been filed with the Federal Election Commission

Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson is one step closer to the White House after the necessary paperwork required for a 2020 presidential bid was filed on the former wrestler’s behalf.

According to The Hill, a writer called Kenton Tilford has filed the records with The Federal Election Commission (FEC), but it’s yet to be established if he is directly connected to Johnson.

The would-be bid for the Oval Office comes after Johnson entertained the idea of standing for President on several occasions.

When Donald Trump won the election last year, he refused to rule out a bid in 2020 – and claimed that it would be a ‘great opportunity to help people.’

Earlier this year, he expanded on the prospect in an impassioned Instagram post, after a Washington Post article reasoned that he had a strong chance of winning a bid at the White House.

He wrote in the since deleted post: “Interesting piece from The Washington Post on if I ran for POTUS I could actually win. Writer Alyssa Rosenberg did some pretty good research into my background (slave descendants fighting for their freedom, Revolutionary War etc). Much more to uncover but well done.

“More and more pieces like this are popping up due to the Presidential election and they’re cool/fun to read… I care DEEPLY about our country… and the idea of one day becoming President to create real positive impact and global change is very alluring.

If Jesse Ventura can be Governor, anything is possible.

The Rock is a Republican. This is a 100% guarantee win unless Trump runs again for 2nd term.

Is he a Democrat or Republican? The Dems gotta run somebody.

I figured Cory Booker was obviously going to be the guy next go around for them, but just realized/found out the other day that he's gay. Didn't know that, and it damn sure won't help him none... especially with the black votes.

**** it, The Rock v Trump would be some hilarious ****. Do it, burn it all down.

Who the fuck would vote for The Rock for President? There is no way in hell people are stupid enough to vote for a ex wrestler/movies/ TV star for President of the US.

That would be like voting a reality TV star with a history of bigotry and use of illegal immigrant workers as President of the US.

If the Rock is the republican candidate, and he runs after Trumps second term in office, and I like what he says then yes I'd vote for him.

Why do you have to insult the man because he was in the entertainment industry? If his ideas and what he stands for makes sense then he is just as good of a candidate than a Ted Cruz or a Corey Booker.

With any other job, someone's experience is the 1st thing we'd look for. While one can never get experience being President, there are other experiences that better prepare you for the job.

You also should display a high level of intelligence, regardless of what side of the spectrum you are on. The Rock hasn't shown this.

It is bad enough Trump is in the office, but when people start talking Kanye, Oprah and the Rock, it's just utterly ridiculous. We need to stop treating the job of President with such a cavalier attitude IMO.

Republicans tend to be excited when they get a chance to vote for actors and celebrities for office. I don't get this.
