    That's a ridiculous statement.

The reason why Wilder is not a star is simple, he has not fought anyone of note in 3 years as champion and has not put in a single star making performance.

He'd fight your mum. Actually she's a jock so probably can't afford it, more likely heroin.

BTW, masturbated to any video game characters recently?

Wilder doesn't have the support of the American public so it doesn't catch anyones attention anywhere else. When people from other countries see 90,000 people in a stadium for a fight, that alone builds hype and intrigue. Add that to a young hyped undefeated fighter facing who is marketed as the next big star fighting the most dominant heavyweight champ in recent times. It basically had all the elements to make a huge event that people got interested in.

Also, Hearn and Sky Sports are excellent at marketing fighters to the casual sports audience, not to mention all the other attention he's getting. Boxing is doing well in the UK now, it's a smaller place too which helps which makes it easier to capture the nation and make almost everyone aware of who he is.

Wilder simply hasn't had any big fights or good opponents and is in a country now where boxing is not really a major sport anymore. I think it's mostly just to do with the lack of interest in boxing in USA now. Let's be fair, regardless of opposition, in the 90's or before if you had an WBC HW champ of the world that was like 39-0 with 38KO's or whatever it is. There's no chance back then he would still be virtually unknown. He would be a star.

He's marketed badly, he lacks genuine charisma, there are no other decent American heavyweights for him to have/invent a rivalry with and his fights are all boring, chanceless mismatches against tomato cans. It's not exactly rocket science.

In the past the USA has had such a wealth of top boxing talent - so much so that the top level of the sport was generally American vs American - that the fans got accustomed to viewing pro boxing as an individualistic rather than nationalistic sport and basically being picky about which fighters to support. In the UK it has historically been a relatively rare thing for a fighter to reach world level, so the few who did get there could pretty much rely on the whole country getting behind them. Basically I think American fans have not yet adapted to boxing becoming a more multipolar sport and still have overly high expectations for their fighters. In other words, to be a crossover star in America Wilder would have to do a lot more than Joshua had to do here in the UK - and the truth is, he's done even less than Joshua, so he's really miles away from that status right now, and probably not good enough to ever reach it

Because people arent dumb. They know that Wilder is a fraud.

I dont care if he has a belt. Wilder is a manufactured champion and he is really a fkin bum.

its not rocket science, he is nearly 3 years as champ and defended against nobody's. Hes 39 fights into his career and fought Stiveren (an aging champion/paper champion at that) and that is all

Great men achieve great things by challenging themselves and he is not challenging himself. If he genuinely wanted to, he could demand his promoters to get him Fury, Wladamir or Joshua. He doesnt want the fights and neither do his opponents.

The great thing about Saturday night is the HW are starting to up there game, starting to face each other, then Wilder will be seen for what he is. Raw power that is incredibly wild, when he fights Fury, Fury will dance round his telegraphed windmill all day. Klitschko would tie him up and beet him to every jab. AJ would KO him

because americans look for any reason to tear their stars (or whatever) down before anything.

you act as if there are a bunch of big names at HW, wilder and AJ will happen in 2018, all the other HWs are just now establishing themselves. the AJ Wlad fight was a business move plus a great opportunity for London. Not to mention AJ said he needed a few fights before wilder. DID YOU MISS THAT??? Fury has been on the shelf for 2 years. this means anyone who he fought outside of those names you all would scoff at outside of maybe Ortiz... everyone else is establishing themselves and will make sense late 2017 mid 2018. Nobody at HW has a great resume 2017-2018 should be the year of better fights at HW things take time. Wilder tried to fight a decent name but was cheated and hes called out everyone including AJ.
