Try riding this train (Long Island RailRoad) that goes out to the burbs. Used to ride the LIRR about once a month or so to visit home from college... and yikes. At least there are spots to charge your phone if you know where to look.

I haven't seen the video can't play. I can assure you public transportation in the US is like riding a luxury train compare to 3rd world countries.
