Canelo has been heavier than GGG for years now. Didn't seem to help him.

I do think canelo will do better this time around than the first fight though which he clearly lost. One of his good traits is he learns quickly.

because the fight isn't happening until May! Canelo fights on Cinco De Mayo and Mexican Independence day everyone knows that. Canelo/Chavez wasn't agreed until mid Jan. May/Pac wasn't signed until end of Feb. Both fights took place Cinco De Mayo like Canelo/GGG is targeted for. So if you golden boy no incentive to sign this fight so far out when GGG's promoter has no balls and keeps bending over to you. They are giving you leverage so why not take it? Remember after the fight GGG's promoter said need a rematch signed in a few weeks or GGG will take a fight in Dec? That came and went and Loeffler said ok we need a fight signed by Nov or GGG is taking a fight in March. Then it was we need a fight signed before Dec. That came and went. He just keeps pushing the goal posts back and makes weak threats of taking GGG elsewhere when Golden Boy and the world knows there is nowhere else to go if he's looking for a big payday.

And Saunders just said this week if he wins on Sat he wants to fight Canelo next. No chance GGG can outbid Canelo if there is a bidding war to fight Saunders for the WBO. And Lemieux is already signed with Golden Boy so if he wins he is not fighting GGG. So waiting helps promote Lemieux/Saunders fight and whoever wins will be used as leverage against GGG to make sure he agrees to every term Canelo wants. GGG got raped in negotiations last time so bad that K2 demanded the terms of their deal stay confidential as part of their contract. Now they have no choice but to sit and wait to get raped again.

Plan B for team GGG is whine and complain until the fight gets made. The reason I think that they really are close to a deal of some kind is that Abel the rest of the crew have been relatively quiet. If GB decides to postpone the fight, you will be able to hear the wailing and gnashing all the way to Russia. And who knows maybe Putin will order Trump to make it happen on June 12, Russian celebrate their independence.

Yes I agree it hit and don't get hit but it's also not giving away long periods of the rounds. That cost Canelo the fight. I had G winning eight rounds.
The fight was somewhat similar to the Lara fight. Lara did not punch enought in some of the rounds and he ended up losing to Canelo. Canelo did better in the center of the ring exchanging with G than he did on the ropes. Unless he felt G's power and knew he wouldn't last trading punches going to the ropes was stupid. He got into a defensive posture and didn't punch enough to make up for it.

K2 has no option but to sit and wait until Golden Boy and Canelo tell them it's time to accept their terms. The fight isn't happening until May so there is no reason to rush and sign now. They will wait until lemeiux/Saunders is done because that gives them leverage on how big a piece of the pie Canelo walks away with. It's that simple. Either winner will gladly fight Canelo in May for a fraction of the cost if GGG prices himself out he fight Lemieux or Saunders for the WBO belt and Canelo makes close to 20M in that fight. Meanwhile GGG's only payday is Canelo. Sure he can fight Derevyanchenko or his other high risk/low reward mandatories like Charlo and risk getting beat. Or sit as long as he's told and cash out in a rematch.

Just like he bolted and pulled out the Saunders fight at a time when he had NO GUARANTEE from Golden Boy to land the fight in Sept. he will do the same like a good little boy to land the rematch on Canelo's terms in May.

K2 is crazy! Canelo is the cash king, but fighting Derevyanchenko in NYC, or Ryōta Murata in Tokyo, could be a close 2nd!
