That fatality rate for herpes is practically non existent it's extremely rare. People can go untreated for the entirety of there life without it causing anything serious. Hiv not so much. It goes untreated it will likely form into aids which can cause all types of complications. Hiv/aids medication is really expensive. so if some women gave you it, would you be ok spending tens of thousands of dollers a year treating a disease you got infected with?

Are you kidding me, its not even close. HIV is infinitely worse than all the other diseases you mentioned. You think it would've been national news if Charlie Sheen caught herpes, or chlamydia instead of HIV?

All of those diseases are beyond terrible, but folks need to ignore the stigma for a moment. Nearly all of the illnesses mentioned before will actually kill you; HIV ****s up your immune system so that something else can kill you.

Not sure what media circles you follow, but Usher Raymond is getting flamed right now for allegedly going a woman herpes right now. No one is going around, telling anyone that they have herpes or chlamydia or gonarrhea, or any of those other diseases, so to try and argue "would you rather" is a bit rich.

When HIV/AIDS was a deadly disease you were charged with a felony. Now you can take medicine to prevent the transmission. And now you can live a long normal life with the disease. Now it's no different than herpes. Another lifelong STD that doesn't kill you. They changed the law to fit the new reality

That is completely irrelevant. The fact is, it is still a deadly and dangerous disease on its own and regardless of how modern medicine has caught up with handling it, a person should be charged with transmitting it to another person accordingly.

Either way the crime should be heavier for knowingly spreading any disease. They're advancing in the wrong direction if we're looking to lessen the punishment instead of raise it for other diseases.
