  • Arm Jab, Foot Jab, Hip jab, hip and foot jab

When and how should I use each of these?

What are the advantages of the arm jab or foot jab over a jab that uses the hips?

Surely everything from the hips is harder faster and more powerful?

(arm jab is from upperbody/arm only, no leg no hips)

(foot jab is the jab where you push off teh rear foot using your leg to jab)

It all depends on you, your opponent, your placement in the ring, what you want to accomplish with your jab, and the list goes on and on.
There is no one simple answer to your question.
You can paw with a jab to keep your opponent at distance, and set them up with something else.
You can throw a stiff jab to keep your opponent at distance, and set them up with something else.
It's best to learn how to throw a jab with your hip/body first and then pull back from their once you get really good with throwing a stiff/powerful jab.
Your learn best with executing full range of your punch with your body behind it and than learning how to throw that same punch without using your hips and or whole body, with different emphasis based on your desired outcome or next move/punch.
