that's the thing though, the pilot probably felt it was safe, like he probably thought he could fly in those condition. very few individuals would actually admit that they wont be able to fly in this condition, etc., especially if you're going to be flying kobe bryant. most individual would jump on the opportunity of being the pilot for kobe and will probably do whatever in their power to make it happen.

Obviously, the pilot was an experienced, highly trained and skilled pilot. The NTSB felt that the weather conditions were clear enough to allow the pilot to see where the aircraft is going through the fog.

Otherwise, he would have been required to use the instrumental flight rules. Perhaps it was due to a mechanical or engine malfunction that caused the aircraft to crash.
