To put it simply, he doesn't have much of a place in history just yet. Based on his last fight, he has a lot to work on if he wants to be mentioned with the likes of Robinson, Greb, Moore and Hagler but the kind of a fight he had with Martinez could very well have take a lot out of him.

        Crikey.

Some of the alts on this site are fun. But the trolls are a waste of bandwidth. And it's bad enough they rubbish NSB with their garbage. I enjoy the tranquility of the history forum. I'm hoping the trolling does not cross over into this section.

Don't you think it's a little bit early to ask that question? He probably has 5/10 more years left in him.

He will possibly make the top 1000 list, somewhere around 999

Wait ten years and look back, then you will have a better idea of how history treats him. I remember Hagler struggling with Marcos Geraldo and Duran struggling with Zeferino Gonzalez and Kirkland Laing(of course he weighed 194lbs four weeks before the bout). All the greats have had that fight when then didn't look special. Ali had Doug Jones(and Cooper), Robinson had LaMotta and so on.

But for Williams, he has not done enough yet. Ask me in ten years!

He doesn't make either list at 147 or 154. I like Paul a lot, but his best wins are Margarito, and it was close, Quintana, who holds a win over him and now Martinez. All good fighters, but none even close to establishing Williams as an all time great.
