5.56mm is not a good round for jungle warfare.

rifle grenades > 40mm grenade rounds

rpg 7 style reloadable rockets > kano style disposable LAW rockets


the kano small arms/tactics have weaknesses not really evident when they fight because of their overwhelming fire support (mobile artillery, helicopter gunships, fighter bombers, etc.)

in rebel/peasant/poor armies. ak 7.62x39mm, rifle grenades, rpgs give you jungle penetrating power you need when you don't have artillery, air support.
