        Agreed!

        It just had character.

The UFC just feels like a buisness and nothing more.

On the plus side the UFC churns out fights at an impressive rate so you never have to wait long!

Well the rules were different u had to be more active in the ground, thats why we saw more subs n GnP, i dont think GSP wrestling movements in the ground wouldnt be so rewarding

N the ring was much more cooler, i dont like that damn octagon

            Pride was better because:

            - The RULES prevented blatent lay and pray tactics that are adopted right now in the UFC. There were Yellow cards for stalling, knees and kicks to a downed opponent, foot stomps were allowed. It promoted more aggressive fighting which led to more action thus more entertainment.
            - The RING allowed for less grinding and it favoured the striker more. You couldn't 'wall and stall' like Randy Couture did in the octagon. If you tried it for too long you got yellow carded, warned or seperated. It also looked better and its easier for the crowd to get a clearer picture of whats going on as well.
            - The production quality was amazing. Watching the opening the GPs for example. They knew how to entertain the crowd, they wanted to create personalities, and they had freaks in there as well just for entertainment. It added something extra. The UFC is so bland when it comes to entrances, I mean look at James TeHunas entrance recently, that was great. He showed a bit of character and people loved it.
            - The FIGHTERS. You had so many different styles, so many raw fighters and so many amazing characters all in their PRIME. Most of the fighters that went to the UFC were past their best because of the wear and tear of years of fighting in PRIDE. Those fighters are retiring/fading now and there aren't enough fighters who have great personalities and amazing styles to takeover. The fighters that are mostly coming up now are wrestlers who are solid everywhere but not OUTSTANDING in 1 place. Back in the day we had those who were amazing at Muay Thai, Slamming, BJJ, Sambo etc combined with their unique look/persona and they had their weaknesses which made it more exciting.
            - The Japanese FANS. Knowledgeable, respectful...they knew what was going on and loved it.

The UFC model is too Americanized. It's bland as **** at times too.

Great points also because the ring has corners you couldnt just run away all day ala machida, or at least its alot harder to run and easier to cut someone off, which again meant more striking exchanges + more excitement.

+ Bas Rutten as a commentator its like having a comedian a person you love and an expert comintator all in one.

Bas Rutten with Mauro Ranello or Stephen Quadros was quality. MUCH better than what we have with Goldberg and Rogan. Rogan is good, he has knowledge of the game BUT Goldberg is absolutely AWFUL. I think the only reason he has a job is because of his loyalty. All he does is highly exaggerate EVERYTHING, say useless and cringeworthy **** throughout. Bas Rutten has regressed as a commentator as well imo, he was much better in PRIDE but thats because he needs someone like Mauro, Quadros to do most of the talking and he can chime in with knowledge/humor here and there.

Rogan is very knowledgeable but he acts unprofessionally at times. He is good though, shows enthusiasm and explains the fight pretty well.

I like Michael Shiavello tbh he is like Rogan in that sense but he can do it all, i.e. Rogan and Goldbergs job. He sometimes says some weird **** but honestly his K1 commentary is stellar, really entertaining.

Jon Anik and Florian are HORRIBLE, they don't really hype you up, they are have boringly toned voices which sound similar. They don't have that IT factor. At least Goldberg has a bare able voice.

Boxing has pretty great commentators in comparison to the UFC. They don't over hype each fighter for the most part, tell it how it is and give good nuggets of info. The HBO commentary team is iconic and the new SHOWTIME team is pretty damn impressive as well, I've been really impressed with Paulies commentating...his scoring of fights is at times awful but he isn't really there for that reason solely like say Ledderman is who is pretty good imo for the most part.

Bas and Quadros were the perfect yin and yang.

Agree with everything above about the ring vs. octagon.

At the same time, the UFC has a definite advantage with matchups, and amount of elite fighters.

Also, some of the Pride rules like kicks to a downed opponent, or knees to the head would HEAVILY favor guys like GSP, and a lot of wrestlers in the UFC.

Jon Jones with knees to the head, and kicks to a grounded opponent wouldn't even be fair. Same goes for GSP.
