Does anyone here think aikido is an effective martial art?

My mate is into it. Oh God, he bores me to tears with his videos of *masters* chucking obviously willing opponents all over the place...

I'm not saying there's nothing good in it... i don't really know all that much about it, but when my mate tells me the *grandmasters* - or whatever they call themselves - never compete, but could still beat the **** out of all MMA guys it frustrates me like hell.

I wonder just how many cross-trained hardmen these masters have taken out. None, I bet.
