I wouldn't even go that far. People need to understand that pure boxing as well as all other pure striking sports are not adapted for MMA. Wolf, while having undeniable power, would not be able to apply it while under MMA rules.

Even professional K1 kickboxers, who are much better suited than boxers to fight in MMA, have been toyed with while trying to apply their stand up game. A combination of differences that would lead a pure boxer to defeat would be the fact that nearly any type of strike thrown can be used effectively and with such small gloves, along with the allowance of all striking, pure boxers cannot generate the power needed to throw these classic knockout punches. They need to worry about kicks, takedowns and unorthodox strikes, forcing them to abandon their boxing style.

Wolf would be a fish out of water if she was ever lead to fight Gina Carano. She would get buckled both standing and on her back, but I can almost guarantee that she would be put there by ease whether it be by a strike or takedown.

        Exactly.

Agreed. All Wolf knows is how to punch. MMA is more than that, much more than that. A little grappling training wouldn't even do any good. Hell, Brock Lesnar was a collegiate wrestler and trained for 2 years in MMA and still fell victim to a kneebar to Frank Mir.

Granted Carano is no BJJ wizard but she's no slouch on the ground and would have her way with Wolf when it got their.

Yeah, but then there is the example of Maurice Smith and Mark Coleman, it certainly can do some good.

It will take some major reflexes on the part of Carano to do what you suggest. Wolfe is not likely to misjudge distance as badly as many MMA fighters and even some kickboxers do, and her boxing training has also made her a master feinter (Carano will probably give away what she is planning by her movement). Seeing Carano try to do what you say would be interesting.

Obviously on the ground Ann is in trouble though.

The sport has evolved far and away from those days. Plus Coleman was just a wrestler and had limited to no submission ability. Also 8 of Smith's 10 losses were by submission to guys who knew them and could apply them effectively. The other 2 losses were to wrestlers who had better gas tanks and could effectively control the action.

It's not so much the striking that she will have problems judging distance as it is the shooting and defending it which isn't something you learn overnight.

Yeah I agree with that second paragraph.
