Well thats 3 in a row that Houston has lost, and most guys are gone after that. Plus when you lose to a guy like Schafer who has great ground skills but isn't anywhere near the top of the division then you can pretty much start looking for fights outside of the UFC.

Yeah, but Houston just signed a 6 fight extension with the UFC...

It was actually a 5 fight extension with the Schafer fight being one of them so he has 4 fights left. This fight was obviously meant to be a "gimme" for Houston considering Schafer's history against strikers, and he has always been a crowd pleaser whether he wins or loses. However even crowd pleasers know they need to get wins under their belt otherwise they can never be considered top contenders. Wanderlei Silva is the prime example of that. Plus Dana White told Yahoo! sports prior to this fight that another loss for Houston and he would have to go out and work his way back up to the UFC which could either mean that the extension was feasible so long as he got some wins or they are quite happy to release him which wouldn't surprise me at all. It isn't and wouldn't be much of a loss for them when you look at the 205lb division.
