  • my new story

Without a doubt Ultimate Warrior was my favorite wrestler of the 80's/early 90's, and maybe still my fav of all time. Now I know with his recent and not so recent comments he is not the most popular person in the world but this is purly based on the Warrior character, As it should be . With the self destruction DVD came a lot of questions on how he should be seen as a legend and I will break it down a little . First of all I have not seen the whole DvD yet but I have seen about 90% of it so I will speak on only what I have seen from the DVD and from my own time of watching him.
First of all he has been attacked based on his promos and interview skills. Here's the problem the Warrior charactor was never ment to be a good speaker . The whole image was based on a wildman from parts unknown .Are there schools in parts unknown ? If he would have been well spoken it would have hurt his charactor development based on fact that a savage warrior should not be able to cut a perfact interview in the first place .
[Stars & Rocket Ships] Again he is attacked for being to far out and insain . He would speak to the 'gods' mid match and you never really knew what he was on about ....again this is the hole point of the gimmick .
[Parts Unknown] On the DvD they joke about Warrior being from parts unknown . Why ? Was Warrior the first to use Parts Unknown ? The answer is NO , many wrestlers have used this as part of a gimmick in the past and every so often you still see someone use it. If he was billed from 'oh lets say Illinois' It just wouldn't work with the image .
[Lack of ring skills] Oh yeah but Hogan,Luger and countless others had a great move set right ? ...Again his gimmick was a brawling brute a Ultimate Huracarana wouldn't exactly look right now would it . He should have had a better finisher i'll give you that but overall he was not that far off of the Hoagan's and Luger's .
[Comic Books] I'll just say NO wrestler should EVER EVER come out with a comic book ever again. .
[Longevity] Yes he was a letdown but with the way that Vince kept messing with his gimmick can you blame him ? The Warrior got his fans by using the crazy, wildman, gimmick but as soon as he was pushed to champion WWF had him lose his paint and act like Hogan . Why ? As I said he made his mark by using this gimmick why change it now ? Is there a rule that the champ has to be a normal man ? They should have let him stay the same as he was the fans would have still loved him and it wouldn't matter . What hurt was that after Hogan left there was no real challenge for him he had beat Andre,Savage,Rude,Earthquake, ect, in the past which made people lose intrest .
My feeling is that you should only judge a entertainer based on how well they entertain. What he says I do not always agree with but I understand the imagery of the Warrior that he tries to convey . I feel that he is truthful about most of his dealings with Vince and wwe based on wwe's past history with wrestlers . And I do feel that he was wronged by being fired due to absence for his fathers funeral. Vince justifies it by saying that Jim /'Warrior' /Hellwig was not on good terms with his father . But IMO due to this fact Warrior may have been in even more grief over his fathers death because of the broken relationship . If they had been on good terms he would no have the guilt that he most likely felt during this time .........Well in closing Warrior is and always will be the most memorable wrestlers of my life . No matter what happens in the sport I can always look back to the days when I was young and the warrior was the most powerful man in the world . Ps. Boy do I miss the kayfabe era.

    • I liked the Ultimate Warrior back in the day and I was rooting for him even in '98 when he came back in the WCW. I remember when I first saw him a few months before Wrestlemania 4 and I liked the dynamic way he obliterated his opponents. Then there was the classic Summerslam where he beat Honkytonk Man so fast back when Honkytonk Man had been Intercontinental Champ for a long time.
That documentary DVD was fun to watch, a nice trip back in the past. Yeah, his skills weren't the best but he was entertaining and that's what Prowrestling is about, it's just unfortunate what happened to him in '90s. From what I've seen in the documentary and read in other books he was just such a difficult person to deal with (by no means the only one in wrestling that can be said about) that his turn to fall finally came around. Not showing up for matches and making less than stellar matches (the Hogan rematch in the WCW PPV comes to mind) and wanting too much money caught up with him.

      • John Cena Vs. ????

        --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I'm bored with Orton and have never liked Edge so i'm looking for someone new .
Jeff Hardy...Why not a good old face VS face fued ? Hardy has the skills to put on some great matches with Cena + it would help push Hardy as a new main event star.
Hacksaw Jim Duggan or Jerry Lawler....Just a Tv show fued maybe they team up to teach the young kid a lesson for some reason.
Johnny Nitro...I think it's to soon for him to have the title and he would look very small next to Cena . But he has a lot of tools and it would be a good push for him .
Shelton Benjamin....I'd love for WWE to give him a push again that leads back to a face turn . I see him having great matches with Cena then turning face out of gaining respect from Cena as Cena did Vs Taker .
Viscera....This would be the same storyline as Batista Vs Mark Henry . Vis has been around off and on for a very long time and I think they should give him one last chance in a main event setting . First he needs to change the gimmick and look.
More then anything I want to end the brands .
Batista....A #1 face VS #2 face double title match just like Hogan Vs Warrior . Why not re-mix the brands by having a match vs the 2 champs ?
Chris Benoit ....Benoit could jump right back into the mix at any given time . He can carry a match and has the history of overcoming the odds . This could make for a good fued .
Undertaker....I'd rather see a re-fued of Taker vs Cena then a Batista vs Taker match . Cena would be helped more from a win at WM then Batista would . But I wouldn't give anyone a win over Taker at WM if I was the booker .
Mr. Kennedy....The promo's would be great but being that he and Batista have a fued in the works this is maybe the biggest long shot of them all .
Little Bastard....Because Vince runs the show .........and he would do something like this .....
Well that's about it less Brown shows up soon or some other new wrestler .

          • Caught TNA Final Resolution last night, good PPV, not quite as good as I expected but decent none the less…

-Kurt/Joe was great again, not as good as the last but good. The last 5 minutes of the match was tense, best last 5 minutes to match I’ve seen in ages.

-AJ’s match was really good in a spotty way

-Triple Threat was a decent Main Event for TNA. Christian regaining the belt was a surprise.

-X-Division match was a whole lot of fun. For an old man, Lynn is great.

-Bob Backlund putting chicken wing crossface on Austin Aries (Austin Star) owned. oment of the night that….

Is it worth buying the replay?

              • Oh, you put me on the spot there neils.

I’m going to say yes. All the matches were fun to watch, even the main event (albeit overbooked). I don’t thinks it’s anywhere near their best but it’s their most consistent PPV in quiet some time.

                • WWE.com has learned that former WWE Superstar Scott "Bam Bam" Bigelow has passed away in Florida.

Kevin Doll, the Public Information Director for the Pasco County Sheriff's Office confirmed that Bigelow was found dead early this morning in his home in Hudson, Fla.

"We can confirm that Scott Bigelow was found in his home this morning. At this time the cause of death is unknown," Doll told WWE.com.

Doll also confirmed that the Pasco-Pinellas Counties medical examiner has taken the body and an autopsy will be performed.

Bigelow, 45, worked for WWE, ECW and WCW extensively throughout his 20-year sports-entertainment career. A former ECW Champion, ECW Television Champion and WCW Tag Team Champion, he is perhaps best known for his rivalry with Lawrence Taylor that culminated in the main event of WrestleMania XI in 1995.

                    • Royal Rumble this weekend, one of the few WWE PPV’s I always order (I just love the rumble itself, it’s great every year).

I’ll be routing for my boys Chavo Guerrero Jr., Benoit and Booker to do well but none of them will win it. From all accounts it seems the winner will be either Undertaker or Orton, doesn't really matter as long as the match (and PPV) are good.
