Many years ago I went to a friends house and his wife made me this meal that was wrapped in leaf and inside hit had pork, onions, and tomatos. I think it started with a P. It was so damn good and I wanted to try and make it. Can anyone help?

it was tamales thats the only thing i can think of that comes wrapped in a leaf and tied with a little string
