I have traveled a lot but a guy I know who does medical evacuations all around the world swears that anything with a STAN in the name sucks really bad.



Edit just saw Beercules post and yes, it's a STAN TOO.

I can vouch for one of the stans, and heard stories bout Tajikistan being horrible. But that AFG I can personally vouch for as most horrible that I've been to.

West Highlands way is good. It's in the Highlands (go figure) and no where near Edinburgh or Glasgow.

Start off in Loch Lomond national park and end up in Fort William..... nothing but nature, beauty and whisky up that west coast....... I'd see if you could climb Ben Nevis after if you're up for it and the weather permits.

Take your midgie spray if you go in the Spring/Summer.

If you can get up Ben Nevis after hiking the West Highland Way, you'll get mad respect from me.

Take a break in Fort William after the WHW hike, go on the Harry Potter train, or the Jacobite train used in the film..... pretty mental that bridge.
