True, but it's not that weird for people to ask you what you do for a living. You spend 1/2 of your waking hours on it 5 days out of the week. Would kinda be the elephant in the room if you just avoided it entirely.

I don't put much weight into what people do for a living on it's own. But how they talk about it can be revealing or interesting though.

If it's an issue, you can always keep it brief and then change the topic to what you do outside of work.
