Victim mentality is only a small part of the problem. Most poor people dont have a victim mentality. They just dont know how to get out of their own predicament.

I agree with this. One of the never ending problems is the lack of opportunities for someone without any experience, can't get the experience because no one wants to provide entry level opportunities in many industries. They want experience--but not one is willing to give them that experience. College isn't for everyone and it doesn't always guarantee opportunities post-degree. I grew up poor and had a lot of doors shut in my face. If you don't know the right people it's hard to get your foot in the door. Networking is just as important as your resume.
