Which is a good thing and should be applauded, not attacked like the kids were getting handed copies of Mein Kampf.
But don’t we want the kids to think about these things from a more realistic perspective? Anyone that tries to equate the economic plan of “socialist democrats” with that of a Socialist country like Venezuela is being intellectually dishonest and isn’t really teaching the kids to think about the topic completely.

I’m fine If anyone is against the economic policies of Sanders, AOCortez. Or any socialist dem. I just ask that the debate be honest. If the Teacher misrepresents the types of policies as “socialist” (like Venezuela) then they are doing more indoctrination than true teaching.

How far a kid gets into thinking about a topic is on them. This video was thought provoking for many of these students and hopefully will lead them to asking more questions that will help them make informed decisions down the road. Any question that makes you go "hmmm" is a good question in my book. Critical thinking requires that you have some knowledge of things so you can investigate and contemplate whatever the topic is. It isn't the job of the people doing this video or a teacher for that matter, to give them every answer up front. Kind of defeats the purpose of critical thinking.

You can beat your head against that brick wall all you want, but I'm gonna give you fair warning first as you're one of the better posters here.

Now if you keep it up, then I may laugh at your futility.
I actually like him as a poster. We disagree a lot, but still think he is a quality poster. We all dig our feet in on occasion.

All true, but your problem is that superfans either dont have critical thinking skills, or they do but yet encourage others to actually refuse to engage in critical thinking.

Remember, this is the party on record admitting they need "stupid voters" in order to gain political power.

People like that abhor critical thinking, and that's why superfans like The Big Dunning-Kruger are on here railing against people getting college kids to engage in critical thinking.

Gotta keep 'em stupid and pulling that D lever.

Do what you do. It's your time and aggravation.

He does that all the time though, not just on occasion.

The guy is on many ignore lists, and there's a reason why.

His point though is that if we present 'thought provoking' material in a dishonest manner that completely butchers the analogy in the first place, then we cant really say that the point was to get those kids to think, because we gave them a false starting point.

Forcing people to think is fine - as long as you aren't forcing them to think falsehoods. That's just called lying.

Making kids think that socialism is anything like what is presented in the video is lying to them.

It isn't anything like it. No, again, it isn't.

Let me state this again. It is not anything like it.

                  Now that this is clear...

The video is trying to indoctrinate kids into the fear of socialism. This is a cultural hangover which the usa suffers from the era of the 'reds under the bed'. That's just history.

I'm not reading anything more into the video than what is there. It is an ideologue attempting to indoctrinate kids through deceit.

This happens all the time, and it goes in every direction. Universities would have more pro-socialist ideologues doing the same thing than anti-socialist ideologues. It is what it is.

That doesn't mean that this one is okay just because there is more coming back the other way. None of it is okay.

If you want to see some bad examples of what I am talking about - check out the 'Safe Schools' program implemented here in Australia. Insane SJW bullshit - a classic example of ideologues trying to get into the education system to twist young minds.

Perhaps you're just not used to seeing this for what it is - maybe you're not that interested in the education sector. I am interested (my dad was the science faculty registrar at our local uni, and my wife is a teacher).

Keep an eye out, you'll start to notice that it is everywhere. The only people who will never be able to see it are the ideologues themselves.

                      Ah man.

You may not be interested in this. But I'll say it anyhow.

                      Step 1) I join forum.
Step 2) 1bad65 accuses me of being a sunspace alt.
Step 3) I don't take it too personally. I even offer a month long avatar bet if I can prove I am not a sunspace alt.
Step 4) 1bad65 tells me to f-off. Makes threads accusing me of being an alt. Tries to get me banned.
Step 5) I post a video showing that I live in Australia, not wherever sunspace is from.

Step 6) 1bad65 mans up and apologises. I accept. We then have a cordial and respectful dialogue.

                      Just kidding!

Real Step 6) 1bad65 immediately puts me on ignore. Then spends copious time badmouthing me. Because I happened to become the unwilling focal point of his particular issues.

So I'd take anything he says about me with a pinch - or more - of salt. If you need some salt, I'm sure he can spare you a truckload or two.

I'm hoping that you and I can respectfully disagree on things, instead of getting silly - and provoke thought instead of hissy fits. I'm optimistic.
