The fact that Democrats are so against the wall, tells us that it would in fact work. They don't want future voters being blocked from entering the country. They don't want more poor people who will depend on government and social services to stop entering our country--otherwise the Democrats have no way of buying their votes with goods and services.

      Ask the Vatican.

The Berlin Wall worked pretty good too. Though its primary goal was to keep people out, you certainly didn't see many people get out and you never saw anyone get in.
The Berlin wall is a horrible example. It was torn down after all. You want to build a 100 billion dollar wall just to tear it down some years later?

99% of illegal drugs come through the check points, over or under. A wall does nothing there.

The increase in people crossing happened, because more people came seeking asylum through legal check points. How does a wall stop that?

The reason people doubt everything Trump says is because he lies regularly and doesn't support his argument with facts. He threw out some numbers to argue the border security but mitigated that by lying about drugs and MS13 and trying to make it a "brown people attacking white people" issue that turns most people off.

The other problem for Trump was he himself tweeted about how low the number of crossings were (lowest since 1970's) when he was looking to celebrate himself. Then suddenly he switched course when he got criticized for lying that Mexico was going to build the wall. So he started talking about a "crisis".

Why would any rational adult believe a man who lies so much and doesn't support anything he says with verifiable data? It wasn't just Democrats either, Republicans didn't and still don't believe him.

What should be noted is the author used the numbers for February 2019 only. Trump saying this was a crisis from October to January isn't supported by data in this article. Nor does this article back up the figures he threw out in the State of the Union or in his rallies.
        Keep watchin that CNN bro.

The fact that you think its only democrats against a wall tells us you might be prone to exaggerating a lot.

The US gov and big business have relied on Mexican labor and spending for decades. Lets be honest here, its how the west and south survive. Cali is one of the few states that takes back less than it gives to the Feds. Look it up and let that sink in for awhile.

It was torn down due to borders changing, as East and West Germany reunified.

But the wall did its job, sadly.

            It is what it is.

We're talking about illegal aliens, not drugs.

It's easy to smuggle drugs through checkpoints, but not so easy smuggling people through them.

To be honest, I myself have carried drugs through checkpoints. Small amounts, of course.

If they go to checkpoints because they can no longer just walk over anywhere, then the walls did their job.

We're about stopping illegals, not all immigrants.

Gotta keep that crucial fact in mind when discussing this.

                Is he?

Can you cite any elected Republicans on record going against the wall?

They can still rely on Mexican and immigrant labor if they come here legally. When they come here illegally those Mexicans are exploited for cheap labor--so you support these big businesses exploiting them?

California is #1 in poverty, let that sink in for a while.

I dont get the fake outrage over the wall

There is no actual reason to be oppose to it

Democrats politicians just using it to kiss up to immigrant groups

A way to ingratiate themselves, a way to have immigrants dislike and distrust the Republican party

They're trying to do with Latinos what they did with the blacks

Make them Democrats automatically and blindly
My problem is that it's gonna cost a huge amount of money and it'll barely put a dent in the issue. When there's a will there's a way. Just my two cents, though.

Cesar Chavez and Dolores Huerta fought for years for migrant farm workers to gain citizenship and come over here legally on work permits. Ironically these efforts were *****ted on by Illegals continuing to come to the USA and undercut those efforts.
