If trump got Impeached by Congress that wouldn’t mean Pense would be president.

If you were alive when Clinton was around When he got impeached, Gore didn’t become president. In order for a president to be fully impeached both the congress and senate would have to agree to it.

With trump, him being impeached by congress is highly likely but his impeachment by the senate won’t happen. What will happen then is that Trump would be a powerless lame duck president like Clinton was, who was impeached by the republican congress but not the democratic senate.

Well the impeached label will still be there if congress impeaches Trump, just like the impeached label still is stuck to Clinton, as his power will be shrunken big time. But Pence won’t be president.

IMO it’s a good move for congress to do to trump.

“Impeachment” & “removal from office” are 2 different things

Impeachment basically means charged and can be achieved via a simple majority of votes in Congress

Given that the Democrats control Congress, that could theoretically happen at any time

Removing Trump requires a vote with two thirds majority in the Senate and given that the GOP controls it, that won’t happen unless they decide to throw him under a bus or the alleged offences are really serious

We do not know yet the extent of Trumps dealings that are impeachable offenses. It is very conceivable that what he has done is so egregious that his own party will turn against him. If so impeachment is a real possibility. We will know soon enough.
