I dont believe the artist thought he could change Osakas race to make it seem it was "angry black" vs "calm white".

His cartoon isnt going to make the millions of people watching that Osaka was white.
Plus, the battle involving Serenas meltdown was between the umpire and Serena.
He could of easily made the umpire blonde.

The umpire and opponent were just generic characters. imo.

I don't think his goal was to convince the people who saw the match that she was White. I believe his goal was to cast her in the "Angry Black Woman" stereotype and contrast her behavior with that of "White" people, to random people that may have not even seen the match but heard about the controversy. So, to further his goal, he whitewashed Osaka.

You'll also notice that the way Serena is "jumping around" is quite similar to cartoonish depictions of apes, form and everything
