  • What The Eff? Sports Betting Is Legal In The US Now?

Holy f#ck man. How the eff did that one get by the government. Bet they are gonna tax the dick off of sports betting now.

And I wonder what this means for poker cuz a lot of the bs that led to online poker being deemed illegal or in a legal grey area was based upon our sh^tty outdated laws on sports betting iirc.

Good point I didn't word that very well.

But if your state happens to wanna do sports betting you'll be able to do it soon. Thats f#cking crazy man.

I never thought I'd see the day. But then again when you got a pro-money President I guess its not that surprising cuz they will be bringing in a lot of tax revenue with this sh^t I imagine.

Bout time we can be like the UK with sports betting. 60% of the ads for games gonna be betting sites & apps now. Hell boxing will probably get some ad help via this to cuz betting on two guys fighting seems 2nd to only betting on the Super Bowl in GuyLand.

Someone keep me updated on this **** with which states and so forth. I basically make my living off this now and the checks pass through. I'm familiar with the process, just wonder how this will affect it.

Boxing gotta tighten up their rules for reporting injuries. To much money is about to be on the line for people not fully disclosing their injuries before the fight

Its legal & happening in 8 states now, details below.

There have bills passed in 5 states (Oregon, Indiana, Arkansas, Tennessee & District of Columbia), but no sports betting officially has started yet as they are working on the specifics of doing it currently.

And there are currently bills introduced in 25ish-30ish states that just haven't worked there way fully through the pipeline yet. Some are at square 1 still, some will likely be legal this year or next.

Basically Florida is the only state not fast tracked to make sports betting a go on the whole east coast right now. Apparently due to the laws there its a lil more difficult to get it passed.

And Wisconsin is the only midwestern state with nothing fast tracked either. And doesn't seem like there is even much interest in getting involved in sports betting there currently.

The rest of the states are mostly rural states that aren't doing much with this (South Dakota, North Dakota, etc).

The one glaring omission not fast tracking this is California. Apparently they were trying to get it voted on by citizens in the 2020 election, but they couldn't get enough signatures so I assume that means its pushed back til the midterm election.

In May 2018, the Supreme Court ruled in the case in favor of New Jersey, ruling that the 1992 federal ban on sports betting in most states violated their rights. After the ruling, several states, including New Jersey and Rhode Island, prepared to legalize sports betting.

On June 5, 2018, Delaware became the second state after Nevada to implement full-scale sports betting.

On June 11, 2018, New Jersey became the third state to legalize sports betting, after Nevada and Delaware, with Gov. Phil Murphy signing the legislation into law.

Several additional states such as Louisiana, Connecticut, Mississippi, Maryland, Massachusetts, Missouri, California, South Carolina, Iowa, Illinois, Kansas, Kentucky, Indiana, Michigan, Minnesota, Oklahoma, Ohio, New York, and West Virginia, began drafting bills to legalize sports betting soon after New Jersey and Delaware. Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, and West Virginia were able to pass legislation legalizing sports betting within their states.

Some states must still organize which department will oversee state-regulated sportsbooks, most are choosing between their respective gambling commissions or lottery boards – until then no wagers can be legally taken.

Mississippi became the fourth state in the United States to launch sports betting operations on August 1, 2018 when Gold Strike Casino Resort in Tunica Resorts and Beau Rivage in Biloxi started taking wagers.

On August 30, 2018, West Virginia became the fifth state to launch sports betting, with Hollywood Casino at Charles Town Races the first casino to offer sports betting.

New Mexico became the sixth state to offer sports betting on October 16, 2018 with the launch of sports betting at the Santa Ana Star Casino in Bernalillo.

Pennsylvania approved a sports betting law in October 2017 and had regulations for sports betting in place in August 2018. The state approved the first sports betting licenses for Hollywood Casino at Penn National Race Course and Parx Casino on October 3, 2018.

Pennsylvania became the seventh state to offer sports betting.

On November 21, 2018, Rhode Island became the eighth state with sports betting, with Twin River Casino in Lincoln opening the first sportsbook in the state.

Two of my sisters are addicted to them slots. They have good jobs, where thy use lots of math, yet never consider how bad the odds are for slot machines.

They have every little trinket or freebie that table mountain & chuckanse (spelling?) give away. They are dumb as rocks when it comes to those machines.
