Handled it right for the most part. Only thing I would've done differently is been more subtle and not as direct. Women love the game of seduction more than the final act itself. I have a buddy who had a very similar story. The girl at his work would flirt with him and send mixed signals, so he asked her out for lunch or whatever, but when the time came she blew him off and came up with some weak excuse. Then he found out she was doing it with many other guys at the job. Men are all too quick to jump on any opportunity of getting with a hot girl, this imo is where you pulled the right move by restraining yourself at her offer, which she might've blown you off anyway when the time actually came for the date.

Women like the one you mentioned will have a dude whose piping them, but they will flirt with every other guy to get their "slut" fix. In other words, they love the attention but they aren't open to having strange d1ck in them.
