Have your opinions on gun control laws changed over recent incidents?

If I'm really honest, the way things are going I'm starting to move into the camp of wanting to arm up myself.

It's not because I think I'd stop a mass shooting, but there's a lot of instability. Society is breaking down in some ways. It's been a slow rot.

Just my thoughts.

That said, in this country it's also one's right to have a gun, and if I have the money for guns, may as well have some.

Now we're talking, or fishing with dynamite.
Get some weapons, someday you may need them.

why does it matter that there is no simple fix?

It goes back to Ghandi, really.

A political object, no matter how righteous, is futile if there is no concensus among the concerned/affected populace.

Gun control in America has no consensus.

The only reasonable strategy is probably to focus on incremental gains, like assault weapon bans. These could possibly gain traction in the foreseeable future.

In this kind of climate I find it hard to even address seriously the prospects of gun control.

Ghandi said, we might agree that gambling is bad. But it is useless to try to ban gambling among a people who don't believe gambling should be banned.

That's a much more constrained issue than guns; however Ghandi also used this sort if approach of consensus building generally.

BUT at the end of day. Didn't even affect me one bit.

But then again..... banning guns won'taffect me one bit either.

So I really shouldn't care.

But all this gun control talk is about criminals right? Stopping gun violence?

As a criminal. As someone who has used a gun.

Gun control doesn't stop criminals and killers from having guns.

I had 20,30,40 guns in my house when I was in high school.

Illegal, banned guns. Ak, macs, tecs, sawed offs.

I wasn't even old enough to buy a pellet gun. Let alone a legal gun.

Every gun I used, carried, had. Not legal.

Every friend I have who is doing life for murder. All of them did it with a non legal gun. A few used something else other than a gun.

Gun laws stop law abiding ppl from buying guns.

It doesn't stop those who don't obey the law.

All I'll say to proponents of gun control is that Hard/extreme cases make bad law.

assault rifles should be banned from being owned by one particular demographic. the ones most prone to mass shootings.
