  • Global warming research study cancelled due to “unprecedented” thick summer ice

Naturally, the scientist in charge has blamed it on ‘climate change.’

    According to Vice:

The study, entitled BaySys, is a $17-million four-year-long program headed by the University of Manitoba. It was planning to conduct the third leg of its research by sending 40 scientists from five Canadian universities out into the Bay on the Canadian Research Icebreaker CCGS Amundsen to study “contributions of climate change and regulation on the Hudson Bay system.”

But it had to be cancelled because the scientists’ icebreaker was required by the Canadian Coast Guard for a rather more urgent purpose – rescuing fishing boats and supply ships which had got stuck in the “unprecedented ice conditions”.

“It became clear to me very quickly that these weren’t just heavy ice conditions, these were unprecedented ice conditions,” Dr. David Barber, the lead scientist on the study, told VICE. “We were finding thick multi-year sea ice floes which on level ice were five metres thick… it was much, much thicker and much, much heavier than anything you would expect at that latitude and at that time of year.”

Clearly not one to let a crisis go to waste, Barber seized the opportunity to perform the usual alarmist clown dance for the media, explaining why this incident definitely shows that global warming is a major problem and deserving of our urgent attention.

    He told Vice:

“It was clear it was from the Arctic, I just needed to be among the ice to see it,” said Dr. Barber. “What was also clear to me was that climate change has caused this event to happen.”

Warming to his theme, he told Global News:

“This is climate change fully in action – affecting our ability to make use of marine resources and transport things.”

    and

“This is a wake-up call for all of us in the country.”

Ummm. You understand the implications of the thick multi-year floes being found further South than expected, don't you? It probably means the high Arctic Ice sheet is breaking up at an increased rate and the thicker, broken ice is able to drift southwards rather than remaining compacted in place. It is likely to be a sign of Global warming - although signs so far are that 2017 is not as warm as 2016 though the overall trend remains.

      https://www.sciencedaily.com/release...0613150651.htm

Dr. Barber and his team of experts were able to use the state-of-the-art equipment onboard the Amundsen to confirm that a significant proportion of the sea ice present originated from the high Arctic.

He noted that, "Climate-related changes in Arctic sea ice not only reduce its extent and thickness but also increase its mobility meaning that ice conditions are likely to become more variable and severe conditions such as these will occur more often."

(up to date information on the state of the Arctic ice sheets in 2017 - Canada ain't doing too bad this year, but parts of the Russian Arctic have had record lows in ice coverage by the looks)

Where in the article did you find that?

Dude, even the huckster/scientist here didn't make that excuse!!

        Ok, that excuse doesn't fly.
Let's move on to the next excuse...

But yet the ice got thicker.

The title actually first stated that. It was then repeated in the article.

Please, keep up a little better.

So that excuse doesn't hold water either.

When debating science, you have to actually look at the other side's data. You dont simply ignore it and mindlessly copy and paste your go-to talking points and the claptrap the hucksters peddling it tell you.

Do you have any more excuses to offer up?

        Either way I must ask:
Why in the world do you keep believing 'scientists' like this guy and making excuses for him when the thickness data proved he was dead wrong??

Who cares. Sh^t ain't gonna f#ck up til we all dead anyway unless they hurry the f#ck up with this centaur/robothuman technology bs. So gl to our children, grandchildren & beyond in dealing with whatever happens after we dead including this climate change stuff & AI + nukes + aliens + meteors + evil lab created once dead species brought back to life & whatever else shall come.

How the f.uck do u deny global warming? Only people who have incentive to deny it, deny it... but even they know it's true...

                A few key reasons.

                1. The pro-warming side admitted to altering and deleting raw data.

                2. The pro-warming side attempted to hide data until FOI lawsuits forced them to share said data. That flies in the face of the Scientific Method.

                3. The pro-warming side presented 73 climate models (the famous hockey sticks) years ago. As the years came to pass and the actual temps were recorded, ALL 73 were dead wrong. When you go 0-for-73 on predictions, you've lost any and all credibility.

Wtf does that have to do with what we're seeing and experiencing?

                    Which is?

The temps aren't rising as they predicted 73 times, and the ice they say is melting is thicker than normal.
