I really got no clue... To early to tell...

Elections are won by charisma, and democrats had it with obama,, but take him out and the party is a bunch of stiffs.. Unless trump is an epic disaster, we could see 8 years..

we're gonna get Sen. Warren VS Pres. Trump in 2020 most likely, and yeah if Trump is decent or better he will win easily

I hope Warren is the nominee. She makes Hillary seem charming. That obnoxious battleaxe would be party suicide.

Michelle Obama will sweep Trump even if The Donald has improved the country.

Way too early to be talking 2020 right now. If you're a liberal you need to be much more concerned about the midterms in 2018. That's the problem with leftists - Always overlooking the importance of midterm elections and only focusing on the Presidency as if it's the be-all-end-all of elections.

Say what you want about the conservatives, but they stomp our d*cks in to the dirt every midterm election because their voters understand their importance. Too many young liberals only tune in to politics once every 4 years and even then they have these bull**** purity tests about which candidate is the most pure and won't vote for somebody that doesn't align with them on 100% of the issues 100% of the time. Every new generation is too idealist for their own good and they end up casting protest votes or staying home and we get situations like 2000 and now 2016.

There's a civil war brewing in both parties right now. Trump won the Presidency as a populist who promised to protect workers and entitlement programs like social security and medicare. Meanwhile his entire party (lead by Paul Ryan) is frothing at the mouth to make massive cuts to all of those programs he wants to protect. Trump people need to stand firmly by their guy on what he wants to do and start ousting the NeverTrump Republicans in order to rebuild and rebrand their party for future elections. Old school conservatism is dead and Trump killed it.

On the left, a civil war is also brewing between the progressives like myself who wanted Sanders and the DNC elite who crowned Clinton queen before the primaries even began. Poll after poll indicated Sanders did better against Trump than Clinton and we warned those in power not to run her because it would be too close. They didn't listen to us. They were arrogant and thought they knew better than us because we weren't part of their special little club. Now we're calling for their scalps.

The next 4 years will be interesting as hell to watch. I hope Trump protects those who entrusted him to protect them and cleans house with the old-school Republican guard, and I hope Sanders becomes the new voice of the DNC and heads are placed on pikes.

But focus on the goddamn midterms first.

I see Mark Cuban and Jerry Jones as strong Presidential candidates.

Depends how well Trump does, if he does well expect even more red states than in this election.

Also that 2020 map is crap, Texas isn't light red it's deep red he won it by 10 points and that won't change in four years. Same with Georgia, Arizona, and South Carolina. Only light red state should be North Carolina.

Regarding a hypothetical 2020 match-up, though - I don't see anybody on the horizon for the Democrats to be major contenders. Sanders is the only star they have and he's an independent that's 867 years old. Warren is only a star among the far left crowd like mine and wouldn't be able to generate the same kind of appeal to middle class and lower class voters that Sanders does because she's not as well liked.

You need huge turnouts to win elections if you're a Democrat. Clinton was the biggest name they had and she depressed the vote that Obama got by 10 million.

Somebody will have to come about organically because that's how it's always been successful. The DNC didn't groom Obama. He was a relative unknown black guy with Hussein as a middle name who made one notable speech prior to 2008 (2004 DNC). The same is true of Sanders and his explosion in popularity this year. Nobody in power would've ever predicted a senior citizen Jew from Brooklyn who self-identified as a socialist would ever win more than a handful of votes.

I think Republicans will have the same problem with finding a successor to Trump as we're having with replacing Obama whenever his time is over. You can't manufacture authenticity and charisma. The good news for Republicans is that they could have 8 years to find that replacement whereas liberals are only going to have 4.
