Anything is possible but, thanks to the Cold War, it's highly improbable.

As somebody already pointed out : Thanks to the sheer insanity of modern weapons technology and the doctrine of mutually assured destruction, it's incredibly unlikely to ever happen.

In order for it to happen you'd need an entire country to be a death cult. Like, an actual death cult. Not just a bunch of blustering ****s like the North Korean government.

Think of something like ISIS only the size and scope of a nation like Russia or China.

        For real.

Why can't we just go back to nuking entire populations without all of the libtards pissing and moaning like a bunch of beta cucks, amirite?

In an all out war anything is possible, in these proxy wars that only happen in 3rd world countries...no. the only time I see it happening in the future is against Isreal, and when that happens I'm sure they have an answer back in the form of nuclear missles with every major city in the middle easts name on it.

They nuked Japan because the imminent land invasion would have been 10x deadlier and basically required eradicating the whole country/splitting it with the USSR/global economic suicide. An abrupt surrender was better by pretty much every metric, even if the pictures are hard to look at.

There would be no point to nuking the middle east. There's no single faction that would just say "OK we surrender, lets do business together". Nobody has that kind of authority and nobody would care. He would just get a bullet in the head.

If people don't study the middle east or descend from there I think they have trouble understanding that it isn't really a place or a culture that identifies as "anti-west" or "pro-whatever". It's a giant exhibit in a glass case showing why globalism is hell. Hundreds of ethnic groups and cultures with absolutely nothing in common with each other -- some native, some with European, Asian, or African origins -- were all forced into an Islamic pseudo-religion that was really more like a federal taxation scheme.

The fundamental attraction of radical Islam is that anyone from any group can join as long as he's willing to do what he's told, so in a very ethnically divided region a group like ISIS swells like a pimple, killing off nationalists and tribes as they can before they inevitably turn on each other.

Nobody is in charge, the dust never settled. The best thing you can do is not make the same mistakes we did. Hands-off containment is the best option. Building up satellite states and encouraging mass migration are ensured to spread the disease.

              Mutually assured destruction

As in threat of a massive nuclear retaliation.

Only the Russians have that capability.

Even the chinese nuclear stockpile is small to assure mad.

Lmao. Lets not. For the love of God.

The Bible is real ladies and gentleman. World War 3 will be the start of the end of days. Once something like that happens again, the world will end. Everyone has nukes now a days. Once somebody sets one off, they all will go off. NOBODY will be safe.

                Seriously.

This is true, no nation would ever nuke another nuclear capable nation because there will be retaliation. The thing people in power fear most is losing their power and holdings. Getting their holdings nuked is pretty much the worst thing that can happen to any body of power.

It would take a lone psycho, cult or radicalist group to actually have the balls to deploy a nuke, and thankfully nuclear capable Uranium and Plutonium is near financially impossible to obtain. You would need to be a superpower to afford weapons grade Uranium and Plutonium.

Would tactical nukes be used in the right circumstances ?

Absolutely, but it's unlikely that those circumstances will arise.
