He's not trying to get away. He knows he's getting life so it wouldn't shock me if he does something dramatic if he does have a gun in the car.

CHP is concerned the suspect has a gun in the vehicle, thus why they aren't trying to do the pit maneuver despite the slow speeds.

Yup, it's very common actually. They know they're fucked so they basically drive for as long as they can knowing it's their last bit of freedom for a very long time.

But like I said this one is a little different since it's a murder suspect. He might be plotting on going out with a bang.
