You're very close to going on Ignore for attrition tactics by doing the broken record routine.

But for now I'll play along.

Venezuela didn't have shortages under a free market system but had massive shortages after moving to a socialist system. You claim them moving to socialism wasn't the cause of the shortages.

What do you say was the cause of their shortages after they moved to a socialist system if it wasn't their moving to said socialist system that was the cause?
I already mentioned the fall in oil prices, and mismanagement/corruption, which can happen under ANY economic system.

There isn't a a simple cause and effect because there are clearly confounding factors you've conveniently chosen to ignore to further your agenda.

But ALWAYS happens under socialist systems, which was my point.

        Keep trying.....

I've been repeatedly asking your side to list those factors.

None of you can. You just keep denying it's socialism, despite the fact that happens to be the ONLY common denominator either side has cited.

Logic isn't you guys' strong suit.

          The fall in oil prices
A generally weak economy over reliant on imports,
          government mismanagement.

Blaming it on 'socialism' is simplistic. There are plenty of capitalist ****holes. Is their poverty due purely to capitalism?

You say it always happens under socialist countries, care to provide proof?

            Socialism is the government mismanagement!!!

            So you're getting closer.

Imports? Ok, how? There wasn't a blockade, so imports are coming in. Please explain that one.

There will always be some poverty in a capitalist system.

            We admit that.

However, there is much more poverty in socialist countries, where EVERYONE not in the political class or the military is in poverty, waiting in bread lines, etc.

            I provided several examples earlier.

Please go catch yourself up before asking me for something I've previously cited.

              Socialism
              ˈsəʊʃəlɪz(ə)m/Submit
              noun
a political and economic theory of social organization which advocates that the means of production, distribution, and exchange should be owned or regulated by the community as a whole.

Government mismanagement and corruption never happens under other economic systems?

Some, not all. It's better to live in Cuba (socialist) than Bangladesh (capitalist), it's better to live in Sweden (democratic socialist) than Pakistan (capitalist).

                  I know the definition.

And that system ALWAYS results in shortages.

I know you can't admit that, though.

I admitted it does, but those systems don't ALWAYS end up in shortages.

                  Seeing a pattern yet, genius?

                  Non sequitur

We're discussing the fact that socialism ALWAYS results in shortages.

                  Fact.

Again, watch using big words you don't understand.

so you are for having government in charge of power, milk, etc?

                    • You didn't address another question ...

How did Venezuela's reliance on imports become a factor in them having shortages of food, medicine, and basic goods?

You made the charge it was a factor, but when asked how you ducked that question.
