Trumps comments above are strictly to deceive. Once wars end, once we are removed from major conflicts the nation pares down the $ being allotted to military spending. Those $ are then typically used in areas that have been neglected during war years. (Infrastructure as an example). This occurred after every major conflict we have had since WW1.

Also anytime we are fighting wars, in this case multiple wars, the debt increases dramatically. This is also the case during any major economic downturn.

Our economy was in shambles when Obama took over. When Obama left office the stock market was at all times highs (S&P rose 166% under Obama), we had 75 consecutive months of positive GDP which remains an all time record along with sub 5% unemployment below historical norm. The economy gained a net 11.6 million jobs. Average weekly earnings for all workers were up 4.0 percent after inflation.
After-tax corporate profits also set records, as did stock prices. The number of people lacking health insurance dropped by 15 million. Premiums rose, but more slowly than before. Home prices rose 20 percent.
    Illegal immigration declined,
Wind and solar power increased 369 percent. Carbon emissions from burning fossil fuel dropped 11 percent.
The murder rate dropped to the lowest on record in 2014, then rose and finished at the same rate as when Obama took office.
Great sensible post. I owe ya a green.....

        • Here's a great story on Ben Rhodes, where he explains how easy it is to fool stupid press people and party superfans.

I was taken aback by his statement. It’s precisely how i feel about him and those similarly situated. But he’s clueless so go figure.

                  • This is why people with morals and principles can't work for Trump. At some point you'll be ordered to betray your principles. We see it with his supporters. Things they used to be against they are now for and vice versa.

Its not that they are or ever were against things, its they against things when the non majority does it and are for things when they work against the non majority.
