I got promoted in my job a few weeks ago, I'm in much more of a business sensitive role and negotiation is extremely key to what I'm currently doing. I always considered myself as a natural negotiatior, I've a laid back, funny and approachable personality which has helped me progress because people generally like me and acknowledge my understanding of situations at the same time.
But the last few weeks have been difficult, I'm negotiating with extremely senior people in a bluechip company. My personally and style really doesn't matter anymore and I'm finding myself slightly on the back foot more often then not.
Two weeks ago I started reading "How to win friends and Influence people" and I have to say it really has changed how I conduct myself on a professional level. I don't think I have changed my personality but I've certainly changed my approach, and I've now started to introduce these technics into my personal life and have started to see some very interesting changes.
What books have you read that you found changed your perception on life?
